The Color of A Natural Disaster

Maybe it’s me, but everytime I see on the news that a tornado hit another part of rural America, I flash back to seeing my brothers and sisters in New Orleans after Katrina. I know in these natural disasters people have lost lives, homes, everything, and some of those things will never be replaced. But I always think, “Will they (white people) get their homes replaced and communities rebuilt before the victims of Katrina?”

It’s only fair that you take care of one before you take care of the other. What is the criteria for disaster assistance? Economic value? Race? Electoral votes from that state? I would say let’s start in ranking order. If you need help first, then we will start with you.

It may sound harsh, but finish what you start before you start somewhere else. I believe the immediate assistance is necessary, food, shelter, health, but that does not include rebuilding homes in Oklahoma when there are still people living in FEMA trailers in Mississippi!

Let the National Guard soldiers in Iraq help rebuild what we have lost in our country. In Iraq we are repairing what we destroyed. Why not repair what has been destoyed where we live? Well that leads me back to the criteria for assistance. Note: Economic Value.

I guess you can get assistance and the continued financial support you need as long as you aren’t Black.

Disaster Recovery Assistance Provided: Blacks need NOT apply.
