Cut your grass!
Why is it that everybody on the block sees the value in cutting their grass except for that one neighbor who happens to live next door to me? I am out there weekly keeping mine cut, trimmed and watered, but my neighbor obviously can’t see it and feels no pressure to cut his.
I live in a black middle class community where people take care of their houses and lawns, kind like you see white poeple do on TV. We talk about the weather, our familys, our lawns and my neighbor next door who for some apparent reason won’t cut his grass.
He will come outside to walk his dog, tell me how good my lawn looks and then goes into how busy he is and how he has got to cutting his grass. I guess he thinks I’ am going to get so fed up that I’ll cut his. It has crossed my mind, but then I set my self up to cut it whenever I cut mine. That shit ain’t happening!
People come by to visit my house and ask if anyone lives there? I’m usually like “Yeah, but I don’t see them often.” It’s gotten so bad that my neighbor from across the street asked him if he had thought about using a lawn service. When I asked my neighbor what he said, he said the guy told him that he was goingto get to it this weekend. He lied. The weekend came and went. We have a couple of crews that come through and knock out lawns in like 15 min for $30 bucks, so he’s got no excuse.
After last night’s rain, his lawn is going to kill someone’s lawn more, but it won’t be mine.

Greetings:
We have black neighbors to the east and russians to the west — neither will cut their lawns in a suburban area. It’s awful — the weeds are taking over. I would loan either my mower because they both have teenage sons, but they would probably make a habit of it. Sorry.

It appears my neighbor read this blog as well and decided to cut his grass the other night at 8pm. It was dark! His grass was so high that his mower kept cutting off. He must have gotten frustrated and called a lwn service to come out because he wasn’t finish when I left for work but it was done when I got home. It looked like a bad hair cut with grass all over the place. Why won’t people cut their grass? Is gas that high?
I hear ya Josette. If you have a teenage boy in your house, there is no reason you should have uncut grass or a dirty car. But I’m old school like that.

Well, I bit the bullet and introduced myself to the black neighbors and offered them my mower if theirs was broken. They gladly accepted and their teenage son immediately cut the grass — front and back. Sometimes you just have to be neighborly to get things done. Maybe the neighbors are experiencing some financial or other difficulties. Peace.

Good for you! The weather was nice this weekend so everyone was out cutting their yards. My neighbor had a lawn service out first thing Saturday morning. Hearing the lawn mower when I woke up was like music to my ears. Maybe next week, I’ll offer my mower if it gets as bad as it did last week. Every now and then we all need a little help.

Employing a lawn service sounds like his significant other demanded some action — lawnwise;-)
Ignoring the honey-do list has been grounds for divorce in a great many instances. Peace.
