What’s in your Wallet? Plastic or Cash? Many women have no idea about their finances. They have no idea where their money goes and on what it has been spent on. It is time for women to become financially fit and concerned about their finances. It is not uncharacteristic for women not to get serious about their money until a serious event occurs in their lives – a loss of job, a sickness in the family, divorce, or the nearing of retirement.

Why is it that it takes such events to bring about the seriousness of a woman getting her money straight? Could it be that she is waiting on “prince charming” to take care of her? (more…)

Being Single… Again

People have told me that I “wear divorce well,” whatever the hell that means. I take that back. I know what they mean. I seemingly handled my divorce like a trouper, when in truth, going through it was the most emotionally exhausting time of my life. Some family members and friends of the victims killed at Virginia Tech University in April were appalled at the way the media handled the incident. I don’t blame them. The campus massacre that left 33 students and faculty dead was the most horrendous news to come out of the nation since 9/11. I got that. (more…)

Watch & Learn - “It ain’t easy being beautiful!”

I was at a social gathering recently when the topic between four of us women turned to reality TV. As an Entertainment writer and self-professed junkie of at least two shows, my ears perked up a little more. The conversation volleyed such shows as “Survivor,” “The Amazing Race,” and without a doubt, “American Idol.” Why do we envelope ourselves in these shows? we asked each other.
